Kelly Holtom, BASVT, RVTg
My name is Kelly Holtom. I am a Registered Veterinary Technologist with over 15 years of experience in small animal veterinary medicine.
The human-animal bond is an incredibly special and important relationship. In-home services essentially eliminate the stress associated with veterinary visits and increase the accessibility of medical treatments that may otherwise not be feasible. Working as part of your pet’s healthcare team, my ultimate goal is to lengthen the time pet parents have with their furry family members and make it as peaceful and stress-free as possible.
Experience
I began my career in veterinary medicine in 2008 as a veterinary assistant at a small animal general practice. I continued my career in small animal general medicine by becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in 2017. In 2019, I accepted a position in the intensive care unit at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron. By working in the emergency department, I was able to deepen my knowledge of veterinary medicine by treating patients with many complex conditions. I have been blessed to work with a variety of veterinary specialists including internal medicine, surgery, cardiology and neurology which has greatly broadened my expertise. In 2024, I became an instructor at a local Veterinary Technology Program. I continue to practice clinically in small animal medicine (both general practice and emergency/critical care) today.
During my time in the ICU, I discovered that my true passion within veterinary medicine is to provide long term care for my patients and ultimately create a deep bond based on compassion, empathy and trust. This inspired my interest in starting an in-home veterinary care service where I strengthen the bonds between pets and their owners while providing care that will greatly improve their quality of life.
Education
In 2017, I graduated from San Juan College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science (Veterinary Technology). Following graduation, I passed with Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). In 2024, I graduated from St. Petersburg College with a Bachelor Degree of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) making me a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVTg).
I am licensed in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board.
My Relationship With Your Veterinarian
Working in harmony with your primary veterinary care team is of utmost importance. Therefore, all treatments will be confirmed and permission from the veterinarian will be obtained prior to beginning services. I will be communicating with your veterinary office regularly to ensure I have the most up-to-date information on your pet’s healthcare plan. A summary of your visits will be emailed to your veterinary office. Treatments will only be performed as ordered by the animal’s current veterinarian. Please be aware that veterinary offices may require verbal or written permission from you in order to release your pet’s medical history.
As a Registered Veterinary Technician I cannot diagnose, prognose or prescribe any medical treatments.
I cannot offer physical examinations, vaccinations or euthanasia services.
I cannot attest to the health status of a patient.
